Winter Wonder

Sunny morning, pale blue sky,

glistening snow on trees and rooftops

as the sunlight touches the dark tree branches

   a million twinkling lights sparkle.

There is something so serene in the

   glistening snow blanketed earth, despite

      moving cars and busy lives.

I find peace on this winter morning.

I hear cars, trucks and buses whizzing by

as the sun streams through the windows

      casting shadows on the wall.

I hear the rushing by, yet I am anchored in

this white covered landscape of pines,

      heavy with snow laden needles,

bare trees slowly releasing the weight

   of yesterday’s snow.

Clean, crisply fresh

   so beautiful.

How can the heart not sing in this beauty?

Or give praise for the morning sun?

And glory for the Creator of this wonder.
